Chairman’s Letter »

 

As Chairman of the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame, it is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to our Hall of Fame. The Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame is a 501-c-3 nonprofit organization. The Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame museum is located in the Findlay Automotive store at the Galleria Mall in Henderson, Nevada.  As we celebrate our 13th year, our mission statement has never wavered.

“We are committed to the support and enhancement of Southern Nevada youth through our active participation in programs designed to promote leadership, values and character through sports”.

The success of our organization has been shaped by dedicated members of our community.  In particular, I would like to acknowledge the tremendous support of Cliff Findlay and Rich Abajian, both Hall of Fame inductees, who have been instrumental from the very beginning of our organization.  They continue to help us, and we are extremely fortunate to have their support.

    The heart of the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame lies in our commitment to the future.  By supporting community outreach programs and contributing to scholarship programs that promote diversity, education, and the discipline and perseverance necessary to succeed both in sports and in life, our Hall of Fame seeks to pass on the values that have driven Southern Nevadans to succeed to the next generation of young men and women.

    The Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame inductees, past and present, represent the never ending pursuit of the American Dream. Their stories of hard work, sacrifice, perseverance, teamwork and “championship” accomplishments have educated and inspired the youth of Southern Nevada.

    The Class of 2011 is one of the most diverse groups we have ever inducted. From the community leaders who have altered the landscape of the Southern Nevada sports scene, to the athletes who rose to the top of their profession on the national and international playing fields, they have all had a tremendous impact on the sporting world in their respective areas.  We are indeed excited and proud to be able to forever enshrine them into the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame. They are Christina Hixson, Steven Jackson, Don Logan, Tasha Schwikert, and the 1944 Las Vegas High School Football team.
