Sports Hall of Fame Class
The six members of the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2010 were inducted on June 4th 2010. This outstanding class drew a record crowd of 500 people at the Induction Ceremonies at the Orleans Arena. Congratulations to them all.
This Week in Southern Nevada Sports History
September 1986
Wisconsin became the first Big Ten school to play in Las Vegas. The game set an all time record for attendance with 40,000 fans packing in Sam Boyd Stadium. Led by quarterback Steve Stallworth, a Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame Trustee, and Ickey Woods, the Badgers left town with a shocking 17-7 loss. Woods, famous for the "Ickey Shuffle" he would later use in the NFL, scored the game-clinching touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 14-yard run.
