Matt Williams - Inducted 2005

Biography:

Matt Williams is considered one of the top power hitters in Major League Baseball during the 1990s. Williams enjoyed a stellar career at UNLV before being drafted as the third overall pick in the 1986 amateur draft by the San Francisco Giants.
The slugging third baseman made his big-league debut just one year later and became a fixture at the “hot corner” for the Giants for the next 10 years.
After a one-year stint in Cleveland, Williams finished out his professional career with the Arizona Diamondbacks and picked up a World Series ring in 2001. Williams retired following the 2003 season with 378 home runs and 1,218 RBI.
Williams was recently named the special assistant to the general partner for the Diamondbacks. In 2010 Williams will serve as the 1st base coach.
