Born and raised in Las Vegas, Steven Jackson attended Eldorado High School. During his career, he rushed for 6,396 yards and 81 touchdowns for the Sundevils and led them to the state final in 2000.

Jackson spent three seasons at Oregon State University. In 36 games, he carried 743 times for 3,625 yards for a 4.9-yard average and 39 touchdowns while adding 680 yards and six touchdowns on 66 catches and 240 yards with a touchdown on seven kickoff returns. His 4,545 all-purpose yards rank second in school history, while he ranks third on the school’s all-time scoring list with 276 points. Jackson culminated his college career with a five-touchdown performance in the 2003 Las Vegas Bowl, a 55-14 win over New Mexico.

Jackson was drafted 24th overall in the 2004 NFR Draft by the St. Louis Rams. Following one year as the back up to Marshall Faulk, Jackson was named the starter in 2005. In 2006, Jackson had a break-out season as he rushed 346 times for 1,528 yards and 13 touchdowns and led all running backs when he caught 90 passes for 806 yards, and added three touchdowns. He continues to be the workhorse for the Rams offense. He has been named to three Pro Bowls, following the 2006, 2009 and 2010 seasons. On October 24, 2010, Jackson surpassed Eric Dickerson as the Rams’ all-time leading rusher.

Off the field, Jackson stays busy in the community. The Steven Jackson Foundation is dedicated to promoting strong educational values among today’s youth. Initiatives have included donating $1,000 to the Foundation for every touchdown he scored in 2006, and hosting a three-day charity event to benefit his foundation and the Easter Seals of Southern Nevada. The event includes a youth football camp, a celebrity golf tournament, and a charity auction and fashion show. Jackson and the Foundation continue to contribute actively to a number of causes, including the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and the NFL’s childhood health program, NFL Play 60.
